Hello! I am a 62 year-old woman and live in a suburb of Houston, TX in the United States with my husband and our 2.5 year-old English cream golden retriever. Currently retired, I have worked in a variety of industries including food, chemical, telecommunications, aerospace, and education, and held positions in marketing, editing, technical writing, teaching, and promotions.
Before the COVID Pandemic hit, I started watching a few Korean films and fell in love with the plot lines, music, cultures, language, and fashions. As a result, I set out to learn Hangul so I could watch K-dramas and listen to my favorite K-pop songs without having to read subtitles. My friends think I'm crazy, but I am having a blast! Though I am an absolute beginner at learning the Korean language – I know the alphabet, some words and key phrases, and am trying to learn pronunciations - I would love to correspond with someone who could help me learn Korean and answer questions I have about your culture, country, and language.
Having worked as an editor, technical writer, and language teacher for beginning English as a second language learners (for 10-11 year-olds), I would be more than happy to help you with learning English, whether it be written, spoken, or reading. I have a number of fun online resources I used with my students to help them learn key language concepts so they could practice and remember them well.
Some of my favorite things to do are to travel, meet new people, write stories, volunteer helping others, embroider, read, watch movies and dramas, play guitar, sing, listen to music ( are most played now), explore historical sites, meet new people, go boating on Galveston Bay or the Gulf of Mexico, and take road trips around Texas and beyond! My tastes in music, books, theater, art, and food are very broad, and I am always open to expanding my horizons!
