What is Hi!Penpal!?

This website operates 100% free of charge.
It is meant for wholesome penpal activity and exchange; if usage does not fit this purpose, access may be restricted without warning.

What is check-in?

Clicking the button on the check-in page each day builds up your check-in count, and the number of check-ins unlocks various features.
Check-in can only be done once per day.

How the message-sending limit relates to check-in

You can send messages to as many new people that day as your check-in count.
(e.g. 5 check-ins → can message 5 new people that day / 10 check-ins → can message 10 new people)
However, no matter how many times you check in, the maximum number of new people you can message per day is 20.
Check-in count is only recorded up to a maximum of 30 times. (Even on the 31st check-in, it will still show as 30.)

To exchange messages freely

Once you send a message to someone, or receive a message from someone, you can freely exchange messages with that person afterward without any limit.
In other words, the "new person send count" is only deducted the first time for the same person; after that, you can exchange as many messages as you like without using up your count.
Replying to a message someone sent you can be done anytime, regardless of your "daily new person send count."
The "daily new person send count" resets every day at midnight and is refilled.

Checking in moves your profile to the top of the list, so other users see it quickly. That's why we recommend checking in every day.
