Real-Time Message Alerts!

As part of the HiPenpal redesign, we've added real-time notifications.

Go to "Messages" in the bottom menu, then tap the "Notification Settings" tab to turn notifications on or off.

If you allow notifications, you'll receive a real-time alert whenever a new message arrives.

This feature uses your browser's push notification function.

The first time you tap "Allow Notifications," your browser will ask whether to allow notifications from HiPenpal.

Please be sure to tap "Allow" at this point.

Your browser may only show this permission request once.

If you select "Block" or "Don't Allow," your browser will block notifications at the system level even if you've allowed them on HiPenpal, so you won't receive real-time message alerts.

If you blocked notifications by mistake, you can manually allow HiPenpal's notifications in your browser settings using the steps below.

How to Manually Allow Push Notifications by Browser

[ Chrome ]

Method 1. Set it directly from HiPenpal

Go to the HiPenpal site.
Click the lock icon on the left side of the address bar.
Click "Site settings."
Find the "Notifications" item.
Change notifications to "Allow."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.
Go to "Messages → Notification Settings" and allow notifications again.

Method 2. Change it in Chrome settings

Click the "⋮" icon in the top right of Chrome.
Click "Settings."
Select "Privacy and security."
Click "Site settings."
Select "Notifications."
Find HiPenpal in the blocked sites list.
Change HiPenpal's notifications to "Allow."
Go back to HiPenpal and refresh the page.

[ Microsoft Edge ]

Go to the HiPenpal site.
Click the lock icon on the left side of the address bar.
Select "Permissions for this site" or "Permissions."
Find the "Notifications" item.
Change notifications to "Allow."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.
Go to "Messages → Notification Settings" and allow notifications again.

Change it directly in Edge settings

Click the "…" icon in the top right of Edge.
Click "Settings."
Select "Cookies and site permissions."
Click "Notifications."
Find HiPenpal in the blocked sites list.
Change HiPenpal's notifications to "Allow."
Go back to HiPenpal and refresh the page.

[ Firefox ]

Go to the HiPenpal site.
Click the lock icon on the left side of the address bar.
Open the site permissions menu.
Find the "Notifications" item.
Change the notification permission to "Allow."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.
Go to "Messages → Notification Settings."
Allow notifications again.

Change it directly in Firefox settings

Click the "☰" icon in the top right of Firefox.
Select "Settings."
Click "Privacy & Security."
Under "Permissions," click "Settings…" next to "Notifications."
Find HiPenpal in the site list.
Change the status to "Allow."
Click "Save Changes."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.

[ Opera ]

Go to the HiPenpal site.
Click the lock icon on the left side of the address bar.
Open the site's permission settings.
Find the "Notifications" item.
Change notifications to "Allow."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.
Allow notifications again under "Messages → Notification Settings."

Change it directly in Opera settings

Click the Opera menu.
Select "Settings."
Select "Privacy & security."
Click "Site Settings."
Select "Notifications."
Find HiPenpal in the blocked sites list.
Change HiPenpal's notifications to "Allow."
Refresh the HiPenpal page.

If notifications still don't arrive even after allowing them

① Check that notifications are allowed under HiPenpal's "Messages → Notification Settings."

② Check that HiPenpal isn't blocked in your browser's site notification settings.

③ Check that your browser's own notification feature isn't turned off.

④ On smartphones, check that the browser's notification permission is allowed in your phone's settings.

⑤ After changing any settings, refresh the HiPenpal page.

※ Most important point

Allowing notifications in HiPenpal's "Notification Settings" and allowing HiPenpal's notifications in your browser are two separate settings.

Both must be set to "Allow" for you to receive real-time alerts when a new message arrives.
